Over 14 years of experience in the IT services industry spanning Marketing Communications, Corporate Communications and Presales. I have had the best times of my life learning to work with my own energies, talent and skills and integrating them with other people, content and design to get the best possible outcomes in a "for profit" set up. Now, it's time to take that learning and apply it elsewhere to make a bigger difference.
I was fortunate to have led the Twestival initiative in India way back in 2008 as the Lead for Twestival India. During this time, when Twitter was just about taking off, we helped raise over Rs.7.5 lakhs for 10 NGOs through the offline Twitter festivals across 7-8 events in major Indian cities. Eternally grateful for this experience that showed me the possibility of using Social Media for promoting Social causes early on.
Prior to this, I have also been a volunteer in coordinating and running Startup Saturdays in Bangalore. These are monthly meet ups amongst the Startup community in Bangalore designed to promote knowledge sharing and connects within the Startup ecosystem. Met some wonderful people and came back inspired.
A couple of years back, I challenged myself to take these learnings from event based connects to a wider community. I initiated the formation of the very first Organic Gardening neighborhood based support system in Bangalore to promote Urban Gardening. Since then, there has been no looking back.
Right now, am working with multiple Social ventures: Coaching people on Sustainable Living Practices through an initiative called "Kaustubam", a revolutionary approach to using WhatsApp as a learning medium. I also take workshops for children and adults in Container Gardening, Chemical-free living, etc.
Constantly on the lookout for more ideas in the "Social Enterprise" space. The causes are many, the time is limited. Working to get the best possible outcomes as always with limited resources.
