I am passionate about communicating through the written and the spoken word. With a First Degree in English Literature and a Masters degree in Social Anthropology, I bring to the table a wide range of skills including writing, editing and qualitative data analysis. Causes I care deeply about are Civil Rights, Economic Empowerment, Human Rights, Gender Equality and Education.
I previously worked as a Legislative Assistant to a Member of Parliament at PRS Legislative Research, a unit of Centre For Policy Research, a leading thinktank based in New Delhi, India and subsequently worked as a Communications Associate with Pratham, one of India's leading NGOs which works in the field of education and followed it up by working for Harvard University's India Research Centre, Columbia University and the UNICEF.
I have my own startup- Aglet Ink-which assists people in editing their resumes and cover letters. I also help them strategize for the companies that they may wish to apply to.
As an editor, I have worked with Rupa Publications, Harlequin Press and Yourstory.
I am the recipient of the Charles Wallace India Trust Fellowship, The Choice Fellowship conferred by the Seagull Foundation for the arts, The LAMP fellowship, The Matador Network Travel Writing Scholarship and most recently, the Goethe-Institut/Zubaan fellowship for creative writing on the topic "Children Understand more."
In future, I would want to work closely with both public as well as private sector organisations, thinktanks, NGOs, international organisations and consultancies in order to learn about social entrepreneurship and innovation and its relationship with the formulation of public policies.
As a writer, I would like to continue advocating for civil rights and write to promote more inclusive, multi-dimensional societal perspectives.
My dream is to be a part of a participatory and well-functioning democracy.
