Short Biography

Product Manager with an experience of managing products across all stages of the product life cycle (concept/launch, maturity, sunset). I had conceptualized, built and launched an appliance (SCE10000) and 1st virtualized DPI product (vSCE) in Cisco product portfolio for Service Provider market. I am now managing another DPI technology called AVC (Application Visibility and Control) with focus on Enterprise market. Being a market leader, AVC offers its own challenges of ensuring that the technology always stays ahead of the curve. I am currently busy evolving AVC and introducing AVC technology across wider portfolio of products in routing/switching/wireless facilitating customers to create a truly application aware network. I immensely enjoy building and evolving products along the lines of emerging technology, trends and business drivers by building a succinct view of how the product should look in long term. In order to polish my skills and excel in Product Management and to share my learning, I regularly blog @ www.ProductGuy.in and I have authored few eBooks, available @ www.ProductGuy.in/eBooks. I reflect on my learning and follow some important tenets of Product Management • What do I do today should contribute to where I would like the product to head tomorrow in alignment with overall vision and strategy. • Don’t blindly chase competition • Go past the customers to understand what needs should product fulfill • Don’t ever try for perfection of entire product, just focus to deliver awesomeness on those aspects of the product that influence customers to come for more. If you don’t find me doing above, I will be busy behind the wheels. I take extreme pleasure in hitting the roads for long distance drives, vacation by road trip is extremely rejuvenating. I enjoy talking with anyone on Product Manager as long it is benefits you. Twitter - @emurali Blog - www.ProductGuy.in SlideShare - www.slideshare.net/merragun
