Is app development on rise or fall?

Nowadays, applications are the major part of our life; we cannot imagine our lives without our phone. We need apps for everything so the demand for applications is increasing rapidly in our day to day life.

The business for applications is already huge, but it’s far away from peaked. In 2017, it is supposed that the business for app development will be upwards of $77 billion. It’s a tremendous amount but an unsurprising one at the same time.

It’s no mystery that app developers have observed enormous success over the last couple of years.

About 70% of retailers are focusing on apps for their better business. Apps like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram etc. are being most used by the consumers. So, rest of the apps have to suffer because around 52% of all apps drop at least half of their top users following three months.

About 74% of users say, “they uninstall apps they don’t use regularly”. Less than 0.01% of the mobile apps will be reflected financially strong by 2018.

Why do apps fail?

Not everyone’s business through apps is successful. There are some reasons, which cause its failure:

Restricted Phone Storage Space

Due to less phone storage available, users usually uninstall the heavy apps i.e. the apps that require more storage than expected.

Less Engagement when it’s Free

Reports state that users do not uninstall apps, they have paid for.

Poor User Experience

The bad User interface is the main cause of app failure. Users do not install apps that are useless.

Market overloaded

Due to high competency, it is difficult for some apps to survive.

But if we see in terms of advantages of apps then, it has become our lifesaver; from messaging to maps, we get almost everything at our fingertips today. Here are some benefits of applications:

Convenience

Mobile applications provide convenience to us by fulfilling our tasks. Whether you have to go somewhere or fix a meeting, you can get it done with few taps.

Saves Time and Money

Applications also save so much time and money. You can get any information from anywhere.

Peace of Mind

There are apps, which give security to your data so you don't need to take tension for your app's data.

Tech Dependence

People are increasingly getting addictive to their smartphones. About 70% of people say that they check their favourite apps within an hour after waking up and 56% people check the apps within an hour before going to sleep.

During 2015, one billion smartphones were sold globally. The average app user consumes over 30 hours a month on 20 various apps. It is also calculated that approximately 300 billion app downloads will happen in 2017 alone.

In conclusion, rise & fall of app development is largely defined by the trends, the timing and the placement in the market. Though app development is not really successful for everyone and only business giants such as Google, Facebook and others enjoy the larger market share, yet small businesses can prove themselves even in this high competition by devising a proper approach to app marketing.

In 2014, there were over 317,000,000 apps available to users. Google Play estimated for 1,300,000 apps and the Apple's App Store had 1,200,000 apps. Though by the figures, it appears tough to have an impacting acquisition of app market share, yet a proper app marketing strategy can position your app among the top 0.5 ~ 1% apps on these stores.
