Consider these Cons before Building your Personal Brand.

In the 21st century, everyone talks about personal branding. But, most of them cover the only positive side of personal branding. They talk about -

  1. How personal branding can help you grow your business.
  2. How personal branding can help you get a better job.
  3. How personal branding can make you charge higher for your services.

and the list goes on...

However, the world is polarized, so there must be negative points on personal branding that you must consider before stepping into it.

1. Personal branding limits you to a niche.

If you want to turn yourself into a brand, you will have to pick a niche to build your personal brand. And once you built your brand in that specific industry or niche, it will make you difficult to make the transition from that industry to others.

For example, if you've built your personal brand in comedy and then if you ever wish to present yourself as an action hero, you might not feel the power of your personal brand as you do as a comedian.

2.Customers/clients may wish to contact you directly.

Even if you've established a company to provide service to the clients, they may wish to contact you directly to close deals. This way, you may face difficulty in growing your business because it will be difficult to consult every client personally.

3. Any negative vibes about you will affect your business.

If you're going to establish a business on your personal brand, you must have to be careful about every vibe about you in the market. It is because any rumors or unpleasing talks about you will make you lose your present and future clients.

Personal branding is a great thing in today's world to earn name and fame in the industry and to build credibility among clients and consumers.

But everything that matter is what type of brand you're building, a niche specific brand or multi-niche brand. That's up to you!

For example, if you establish yourself as an innovator (Multi-niche), you're open to every industry like Elon Musk. On the other hand, if you established yourself as a marketer (niche-specific), you're limited to marketing industry like Neil Patel.

The above-listed cons on personal branding are just to make you aware what you can lose if anything goes wrong. So, always consider those cons to strategies your personal brand.
