Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), version 16.0 SP03 has introduced in-memory technologies which optimally uses the given memory and provides eXtreme OnLine Transaction Processing (XOLTP). Key features are In-memory row store (IMRS) with data row caching (DRC), Multi-version concurrency control (MVCC), both memory based and disk based. Working as a developer in designing and implementing core functionalities and features of MVCC both memory based where versioned data as well as meta-data resides in In-memory row store (IMRS) and disk based where In-memory row store (IMRS) is only used to contain meta-data where as actual versioned data resides in temporary version database.
